Cyprus, 9th April 2021 – CYBER RANGES™, a software platform by Silensec for the development of cyber capabilities through continuous user interaction, and CYNET-CSIRT which provides incident response and security services to all Cyprus Academic Institutions, Research Institutes and educational networks that are members of the Cyprus Research & Academic Network (CYNET), have agreed on a joint cyber exercise.
“CYNET-CSIRT and SILENSEC have come together in a collaboration for the promotion of knowledge on the critical field of cybersecurity. A field ever so expanding that requires the exchange of knowledge and experience between experts, which is then shed on our constituents. CYNET-CSIRT’s collaboration with SILENSEC can only have positive outcomes in the fight against cyber attacks and it is a great joy and pleasure every time we have such an opportunity”, quoted George Konnis, CYNET’s Managing Director.
CYNET-CSIRT has chosen CYBER RANGES by Silensec to advance its services offering. CYBER RANGES provides its customers with a suite of tools offering highly realistic scenarios, increasing the precision, diversity and interactivity of its training and cyber exercises. The CYBER RANGES platform runs live simulations of real IT (Information Technology) or OT (Operational Technology) environments and helps cyber professionals progress in crisis situations such as intrusion detection, network protection or incident response. CYBER RANGES also facilitates the testing of new products or configurations as well as the development of more advanced security systems to combat cyber-attacks, which are increasing both in terms of frequency and complexity. This cloud technology-based cyber platform enables users to perform training and exercises, even on a large scale and of great complexity, anytime and from any given location in the world.
CYNET-CSIRT’s weekend-long Cyber Drill will be directed by George Nicolaou, the field-hardened CTO for CYBER RANGES and Head of Innovation & Incident Response at SILENSEC. “CYBER RANGES is the preferred simulation-based training platform by an increasing number of Higher-Education Institutions and public organisations. This new partnership is further confirmation that its performance and capabilities are recognised by the wider cyber community,” said Dr. Al Graziano, who is the CEO at CYBER RANGES.
ABOUT CYNET-CSIRT (www.cynet.ac.cy)
CYNET-CSIRT provides incident response and security services to all Cyprus Academic Institutions, Research Institutes and educational networks that are members of the Cyprus Research & Academic Network (CYNET). It also provides early warning, alerts, announcements and dissemination of information to its constituency and relevant parties regarding risks and incidents. This is accomplished by acting as an intermediary between affected parties and offering, when required, technical advice leading to the resolution of the incident. The affected parties may be internal or external entities to CYNET. CYNET-CSIRT aims to educate its members about the effects of cyber threats and cybercrime, and train them to provide early warnings, alerts, announcements and efficient use of the respective tools. Moreover, CYNET-CSIRT collaborates with other local and/or European institutions and CSIRT teams in order to exchange knowledge and experience.
