Cyprus, 21 April 2021 – CYBER RANGES by Silensec proudly announces its participation as a Silver Sponsor of Australia’s oldest and most prestigious cyber security conference, AusCERT. Its 2021 4-day edition will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of this initiative. CYBER RANGES joins other key industry players and the national sponsor AusCERT.
AusCERT is the Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) based at The University of Queensland Australia. AusCERT delivers a 24/7 service to members and helps them prevent, detect, respond and mitigate cyber-based attacks. AusCERT has a national focus across industry and government, with a national and global reach. As an active member of the Forum for Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST) and Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT), AusCERT has access to accurate, timely and reliable information about emerging computer network threats and vulnerabilities on a regional and global basis. Additionally, AusCERT maintains a large network of trusted CERT contacts in North America, the United Kingdom, Europe and throughout Asia.
Themed “SOARing with Cyber”, AusCERT 2021 focuses on improving efficiencies and making security a self-operating function within organizations through Security Orchestration, Automation and Response.
As high-level orchestration and automation are required key features of next-generation cyber range environments, Dr. Al Graziano, CEO of Silensec | CYBER RANGES, will discuss “The Role of Next-Generation Cyber Ranges for Cyber Exercises to Build CERT Capabilities and Cyber Resilience.”
A leading authority and innovator in the field of cyber ranges, and a Chair of the European Cyber Security Organization’s WG on Cyber Ranges, Dr. Al Graziano advocates their deployment, their key application areas, and examples of how governments and organizations around the world are currently using them to assess cyber resilience.
For AusCERT 2021 Silensec is organizing the virtual-only 2-day AusCERT 2021 SOCathon to be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 and Wednesday, May 12, 2021 (AEST time zone). This SOCathon will provide AusCERT 2021 delegates the unique opportunity (especially for those who work within incident response teams) of assessing their capabilities and improving their response skills by experiencing real-world cyberattacks in a virtual SOC environment.
The SOCathon, a team-based event targeting T1, T2 and T3 participants, will be testing Malware Analysis and Reverse Engineering; Event Analysis using native Linux skills and commands; Event Analysis using ELK, suricata, arkmime, osquery, velociraptor; Digital Forensics; Incident Response; Phishing and Business E-mail Compromise; OSINT and Threat Intelligence; Threat hunting and more.
“Delegates interested to participate in the SOCathon will have to come forward with a team. Individual participants will be enrolled in a team on the day (hopefully as an exception rather than the norm).”
